Graduation Details

Below is information on GWU's graduation weekend in Washington, D.C. and the competitions being held for the School of Education and for the Education Technology Leadership (ETL) Program. There is still time to enter into each one of these (see the information) below. The Jere Trout Memorial Award is designated specifically for ETL students.

There are two separate graduation ceremonies students can attend. On Saturday May 16th the Graduate School of Education holds their graduation ceremony where ETL students walk across the stage and receive their diplomas. (Note: the diplomas are "dummies" - the actual ones are mailed out to students at a later date). On Sunday May 17th the university holds their commencement ceremony for graduating students throughout the university.

The School of Education graduation ceremony is held on Saturday morning from 8:00 am-10:00 am. Afterwards there is a reception for all School of Education graduates and their guests. Brunch style food is provided at the reception and this does allow an opportunity for ETL graduates to socialize with their classmates and ETL faculty. According to Diane Koffenberger, the event is fun but large and a little noisy. For students who would like more time and perhaps a quieter venue Diane has recommended for interested graduates a lunch afterwards at a nearby restaurant.
